    Los routers o enrutadores son los dispositivos de interconexión que permiten que cada paquete enviado llegue a su destino siguiendo el camino o la ruta más factible. El presente trabajo surge con la idea de agrupar las características, componentes, funcionamiento y arquitectura genérica de los routers permitiendo una comprensión detallada acerca de cómo realmente se realiza el proceso de entrega de cada uno de los paquetes. Se abordaron conceptos fundamentales relacionados con el enrutamiento y se mostró la configuración básica de un router Cisco aplicable a los dispositivos de otros fabricantes. Se dió una breve introducción al router Telindus, uno de los modem -router más usados en las instituciones de salud del país y por último se abordó acerca de un aspecto de vital importancia para asegurar nuestra red: la seguridad de los routers.

    The routers are networking devices that allow each packet sent arrives at its destination along the trail or the most feasible. Although there is abundant information on the subject, often is in English and you need to have Internet access, limiting access to information to users who only have domestic shipping. This paper arises from the idea of grouping the features, components, operation and generic architecture of the routers enabling a detailed understanding of how the process actually takes delivery of individual packets. It addressed key concepts associated with routing and was the basic configuration of a Cisco router applicable to devices from other manufacturers. He gave a brief introduction to the Telindus router, one modem-router commonly used in health institutions of the country and finally approached about an aspect of vital importance to ensure our network security routers.
