Resumen de Exploring public library music collections through social technologies.

Laurel Tarulli

  • Social technologies can assist in promoting and enhancing access to our music collections. This includes rating items, writing reviews, tagging, and interacting online with music experts at the library. This new software allows for a level of discovery and exploration that has, up until now, been difficult to achieve. An exploration of how some of these technologies work and how to decide what's best for your library is discussed in this article, alaong with the examination of next generation catalogues and how the promotion and use of user-generated information is shaping our collections and inviting community sharing and jdiscovery. This article will discuss the impact user-generated information has on our music collections and examples of jhow libraries can use social cataloguers to combine local collections with local events-all in one place.
