  • Intoxication by paraquat, being either accidental or autolytic, appears predominantly in geographic areas with agricultural and fruit farming. This work presents a brief revision of the general characteristics of this toxic agent like its action mechanism and toxicokinetics, as well as the intoxication's symptomatology and the diverse options for its treatment. Also, there are described two clinical cases of different result, one voluntary with autolytic purposes and the other an accidental one, that show the evolution and the handling of this intoxication, which is fatal in 80% of cases
