  • Resumen
    • Objective: To translate and adapt the Medication Appropriateness Index (MAI) to our country's context, and assess the internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Methods: Observational validation study of questionnaire. After translating and adapting the questionnaire, a study was piloted in 12 elderly patients over 65 years. Assessments were repeated in 2-3 months by the same investigator (test-retest). We measured internal consistency (a Cronbach) and intra-rater reliability (Kappa index, Intraclass Correlation Coefficient - ICC -). Results: Mean age of the participants was 81.6 ±5.4 years. 92% were females. The drug mean per person was 9.3 ±2.3. Overall a Cronbach was 0.99 (Confidence Interval - CI - 95%: 0.98-0.99). The ? values were placed in 9 of 12 items above 0.75. The ICC was 0.98 (CI 95%: 0.97-0.99). Conclusion: The Spanish version of the MAI is highly reliable and consistent in assessing the medication appropriateness
