  • Resumen
    • In its early stages the industrial revolution, by providing labour for an unemployed agricultural class, gave to urban living the attraction of financial stability. Increasingly, however, the inadequacies of urban centres to keep pace with the rapid expansion in their population led to congestion, filth, crime and related social problems. The growth of the garden suburb movement occurred at a time of increasing disenchantment with these consquences of the industrial revolution.
