  • Resumen
    • The Halifax Public Gardens of today are the result of the amalgamation of two separate gardens. One was the product of the Nova Scotia Horticultural Society's efforts to demonstrate "improved" cultivation practices and varieties of plants. The other was strictly a pleasure-garden built by the city to emulate a European model. It is perhaps noteworthy that the former was engulfed by the latter despite a considerable "head start" enjoyed by the Society.
