  • Resumen
    • In addition to designing his own grounds at Painshill, for which he was justly famed, the Hon. Charles Hamilton (1704-1786) advised on several gardens for his friends: Bowood for the Marquis of Lansdowne, Fonthill for William Beckford and Holland Park for Henry Fox, first Lord Holland. Fox took a lease on Holland House, Kensington, in 1746, and brought in a number of distinguished garden advisers to design the park surrounding the house. William Kent designed the terraces near the house, Peter Collinson advised on particular species to plant, and Hamilton planned the layout of the open parkland north of the house and the area to the west.
