  • Between 1689 and 1705 Louis XIV composed several brief itineraries to the gardens of Versailles, undoubtedly intended for the officials in charge of conducting important visitors around the park. The itineraries remained in manuscript form until modern times, and have been published since 1867 in a wide variety of formats (see Bibliography below). Simone Hoog's publication of the Mani ère de montrer les jardins de Versailles (as several of the MSS are titled) is the most recent edition to date.
