The 18th-century landscape garden is recorded sensitively and evocatively in many fme engravings. Some may be more representationally accurate than others, but the flavour and feeling of the period comes across tellingly in the work of such engravers as Angus, Bonnor, Chatelain, Elliott, Mason, Rocque, Smith, Sullivan, Vivares, Watts and Woollett, and in the initial work of the painters or other delineators from whose originals the engravers produced their prints.
