Resumen de The design and realization of The Park of the Royal Palace at Caserta by Luigi and Carlo Vanvitelli

Giuseppe Chigiotti

  • The visitor to the park of the royal palace at Caserta today would find it very difficult to identify its original appearance, although one can hardl y speak of an original appearance of the Caserta park . In fact, since it isin the very nature of plants to grow and lose their original appearance, it is difficult to imagine how any garden originally looked . This is because the basic characteristics of the various kinds of green ery combine to create a poetic and emotional impression which is very unstable : the uncontrolled growth of a single hedge, for example, is sufficient to alter the previous harmony. This is even more true of those gardens patterned along well-established geometrical lines, in which plants are considered as material to be shaped in accordance with predetermined designs.
