Resumen de Wilhelmshöhe: A unique record of a changing landscape by J. H. Muntz (1786-1796)
The creation of new landscapes in the eighteenth century often meant the destruction of earlier gardens. The Baroque gardens at Wilhelmshohe were created in 1713; from 1785 on, they were "improved": while the main axis was kept, the straight lines to each side were changed to wandering paths, and water in its many forms altered the face ofthe park. Such changes to the landscape fascinated one artist in particular, Johann Heinrich Miintz.
