Se presentan distintas defi niciones de Responsabilidad Social Empresaria (RSE), buscando contenidos comunes, sus posibles justifi caciones y haciendo un análisis crítico del concepto de RSE. Luego se intenta dimensionar este concepto en la realidad local, con particular énfasis desde la óptica de los mercados fi nancieros. Se hace una breve exposición acerca del crecimiento de las inquietudes de RSE en mercados fi nancieros en el mundo y se presentan las posibles consecuencias para nuestro medio.

This paper undertakes a critical analysis of the concept of Business Social Responsibility (RSE, Responsabilidad Social Empresaria) while looking for common contents and potential justifi cations of the several defi nitions of RSE presented.. The determination of the scope of RSE within local reality, from the specifi c standpoint of fi nancial markets is attempted.
The paper includes a brief presentation on the progress of RSE concerns in fi nancial markets around the world as well as on the possible consequences for the local area.
