Metaphors are thought to provide a means to better understand phenomena. Metaphors have been found to be helpful in communication, nursing, nursing research, and as a pedagogical tool in the teaching-learning environment. This column briefly discusses metaphors and introduces a column which offers a unique use of metaphors in nursing education.
