    El presente trabajo trata sobre el estudio de 10 fortificaciones medieval que pueden ayudar a entender el surgimiento y consolidación de poderes locales en la Alta Edad Media en el Alto Ebro, concretamente en la provincia de Álava y su entorno. Los objetivos principales han sido la identificación y el estudio material de dichas fortificaciones además de plantear y reflexionar sobre su escenario interpretativo. Para ello se han realizado prospecciones sistemáticas en todos los yacimientos y un estudio bibliográfico de las líneas interpretativas de este fenómeno y de los yacimientos.

    This project deals with the study of 10 medieval fortifications that can help us understand the emergence and consolidation of local powers in the Early Middle Ages in the Upper Ebro, particularly in the province of Álava. The main objectives have been the identification and study of different materials that belong to these castlss, in addition to studying and revising their interpretation.

    For undertaking this task we conducted a systematic survey at all the archeological sites and a bibliographic review of the different interpretations of this phenomenon.
