The eastern slope of the Central Andes is an interesting geological observatory for the study of mass movements. Giant land-slides, mud-flows, debris-flows and flash-floods occur frequently. During the austral summer season (December to March), Calchaqui Valleys are the theatre of several mud-flows. We have also evidences of several phenomena in the historical time. We report here two localities with past mass movements (San Lucas and Santa Rosa). These localities constitute a site for potential geological hazard mainly during the ENSO (El Niño/ La Niña) years
