Resumen de A description of Stonypath

Stephen Bann

  • The garden of Stonypath lies in the Pentland Hills, about 25 miles south-west of Edinburgh. After following the main road to Biggar for just over 20 miles, the visitor from the capital turns off to the right, crosses a small hill and enters the Vale of Dunsyre. The road leads through the scattered village of Dunsyre, passes a disused railway line, and deposits him at the end of a well-worn, stone-strewn track which leads up the hillside, by way of two substantial farm-gates. A signboard, more than once renewed in the past few years, marks the point where the track departs from the road: Stonypath-'The way up and the way down is one and the same' (Heraclitus).
