    La cultura medieval está rodeada de simbolismo, y en este contexto el lenguaje del color es fundamental, como aparece reflejado en todos los aspectos de la vida medieval: ropas, joyas, telas litúrgicas, escudos y por supuesto, en el arte. La representación artística, además de las fuentes, es un testimonio clave para acercarnos a lo que supuso el color en la baja Edad Media, sus usos, su producción, su significado y su simbolismo. Uno de los casos más característicos es el del color amarillo y su adscripción a lo negativo, concretamente a la mentira, la enfermedad, la herejía, la traición o la codicia. Dentro de la producción artística, este color está prácticamente siempre presente con un sentido peyorativo, como se muestra a través de la pintura o de las vidrieras. Otros colores muestran diversos usos dentro de esta producción artística, pero el amarillo, se mantiene constante en su significado.

    The Middle Ages Culture is enclosed by the symbolism, and into this symbolism the color’s language is essential, and it is reflected in all the medieval life’s aspects like: the clothes, the jewels, the liturgical clothes, the coats of arms, and obviously the art. The artistic representations, as well as the sources, are the bass testimony to understand the meaning of the color in the late Middle Ages, the way to use it, to produce it, his meaning and his symbolism. One of the most characteristics is the yellow color and his negative sense specifically to express the lie, the illness, the heresy, the betrayal or the avarice. In the artistic process, this color is always founded with a pejorative meaning like we see in the painting or the stained-glass windows. Others colors have others meaning into the artistic process, but the yellow color has nearly always the same meaning.
