Since 1947, Rodolfo Pallucchini applied himself -as Segretario Generale of the Venice Biennale- to reintroduce Italian contemporary art abroad, following Antonio Maraini's iniziative born in the thirties of the Venetian institution. He organized several important travelling exhibitions in Europe and in South America, between 1947 and 1957, in order to promote Italian art after the stagnation of Fascist period, favouring especially Futurism: together with Cubism, Pallucchini considered this movement the leaven of the best 19th century picture.
