The article -on the basis of archive material- documents the role of Rodolfo Pallucchini as Segretario Generale of the Venice Biennali between 1947 and 1956: a long and rich period started with the successful XXIV exhibition (1948), the first great post-World War II international artistic clash, and finished with his controversial resignation. A glorious season nowadays called the "Biennali di Pallucchini".
