The author recalls the hopes and intentions of the founders of the magazine and expresses the satisfaction of the editorial committee at having reached the fiftieth issue, a considerable goal for a scientific journal. The merit is due to the courage of the publishers, Stefano and Luigi De Luca, and to the commitment of the editorial staff.
The aim has been achieved of creating a magazine open to the younger generations, giving space to all the different trends of art-historical research, without any theoretical prejudices, and publishing editorials concerning problems of art politics, the workings of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, of conservation and restoration. The only failture has been the lack of dialogue with colleagues, especially Italian colleagues, resulting from the differences of trends and schools that continue to divide our art-historians.
