  • This paper affirms the present need of bringing back together economy and communication, putting an end to the separation that Modernity has created between the logic of efficiency and the logic of gift. The current economic crisis is not extraneous to this divorce that has become more accentuated in the last decades. The analysis of that separation will be made in the first part of the article whereas, in the second part, some possible solutions will be offered in the light of Pope Benedict XVI's Encyclical, "Caritas in Veritate." More precisely, the necessity will be ascertained of dynamically combining efficiency and solidarity, economic goods and relational goods.
