  • Resumen
    • The second part of this research traces the interpretarions os Zech 12:10 in the rabbinical writings and in the Gospel of John. In the rabbinical literature the use of Zech 12:10 encounters the messianic tradition of the ben Josef, or bar Efraim, the origin of this tradition is obscure and its connections with the Fourth Gospel are thin and nuanced. The Gospel of John brings to bear Zach 12:10 in the crucifixion scene of Jesus of Nazareth. By a process of revealing and comparing text and events, the hermeneutical skill of the Evangelist renders the prophecy the highest literary, historical and theological fulfillment. In the "great day" of Yhwh, Jesus, King of the Jews, is the pierced Messiah and God himself, who raises the people`s gaze for the quest of faith. He is the eschatological "temple" through whom the gift of the Spirit of Yhwh flows to forgive sins. From the eschatological perspective each reader/spectator is ranked as a universal subject in a unique quest for faith; he becomes a part of the everlasting prophetic fulfillment, whatever his choice may be.
