    El objeto de la investigación fue establecer el grado de concentración de las operadoras habilitadas que se desempeñan en los segmentos de mercado de telefonía fi ja local y telefonía móvil celular en Venezuela para el período 2004-2007, permitiendo tener una visión de las empresas que tienen poder de mercado en el sector de telecomunicaciones en el país. Para ello se tomo como referencia el índice de Herfi ndahl-Hirschman (IHH). Se recopiló información gubernamental sobre este segmento de mercado regulado nacional. Se concluyó que existe un alto nivel de concentración en cada rubro, siendo las operadoras habilitadas CANTV y MOVISTAR las que tienen el poder del mercado en las telecomunicaciones a nivel nacional, afectando la competencia y desestimulando a otras empresas a desempeñarse en el ámbito nacional.

    The object was identify the degree of concentration of the qualifi ed operators who get out of a jam themselves in the segments of market of fi xed local telephony and mobile cellular telephony in Venezuela for the period 2004-2007, allowing to have a vision of the companies that have market power in the sector of telecommunications in the country. We take as a reference Herfi ndahl- Hirschman´s index (IHH). There was compiled governmental information about this segment of national market. The study concludes that a high level of concentration exists in every item, being the qualifi ed operators CANTV and MOVISTAR those who have the power of the telecommunications national market, affecting the competition and the revenue of new companies.
