Algunas consideraciones sobre la utilidad actual de una interpretación whig de la historia del análisis económico

    El artículo intenta repasar brevemente la propuesta hecha explícitamente por Paul Samuelson acerca de la necesidad de un programa Whig de la Historia del Pensamiento Económico y el consiguiente debate que originó en la comunidad académica. También se intenta continuar esa discusión acerca de la posible utilidad actual y futura de las advertencias originales de Herbert Butterfield, iniciada por Thomas Nickles al declararlas actualmente obsoletas. Como conclusión se sugiere que el anti-Whiggism es todavía útil, frente a algunos excesos en las reconstrucciones propuestas en la historiografía de la disciplina.

    This paper attempts to offer a brief overview of Paul Samuelson´s proposal to create a Whig Program for the �History of Economic Thought� and the debate triggered by his proposal within the academic community. It also aims at furthering the debate about the possible current and future usefulness of the original warnings of Herbert Butterfield initiated by Thomas Nickles who considered such warnings obsolete. To conclude, it is suggested anti- Whiggism is still useful in spite of to the excesses in the reconstructions proposed by the historiography of this discipline.
