  • Resumen
    • Objective: To implement strategies for improving safety in the administration of antineoplastic agents at the Oncology Day Hospital. Method: Chemotherapy administration was identified as a weak point in the antineoplastics administration process and safety measures such as an electronic system of validation in the administration through PDA and a smart pump infusion system were developed. Results: In five months a total of 8,333 mixtures have been validated with the PDA (79% overall administered mixtures) and a total of 817 mixtures have been infused with the "smart" pumps. In 69.1% of these infusions, the drug to be infused was selected from the drug library. Conclusion: The implementation of the electronic prescription, electronic devices for the the drug administration validation and the smart pumps allows to reduce the medication errors in the antineoplastics administration
