  • Resumen
    • Dr Bath and colleagues from the United Kingdom question our assertion that an RCT of iodine supplementation in pregnant and lactating women is unethical. Our statement relates to the United States where multiple medical societies recommend supplementation. We stand by this statement. However, geographic differences do exist. The lack of a national policy on iodine supplementation in the United Kingdom is perplexing, especially in light of the 2011 study documenting iodine insufficiency in school-aged girls
