Investigar o fenómeno dos sem-abrigo: em defesa de uma política ontológica declarada e preocupada

    Quantification and pathological individualization are the two dominant trends within homelessness research. In acquiring near-exclusive status in this research, they constitute a regime of truth and produce a series of unsustainable negations: they deny that they produce the realities which they study, they deny that other realities may be produced, they delegitimize any alternative methodological perspectives, and render power relationships and domination invisible, thus obscuring the injustice of life on the streets. As an alternative to this regime of truth, this article argues for the mobilization of a declared ontological politics that is concerned with the welfare and dignity of homeless people.

    A quantificação e a individualização patológica são as duas tendências dominantes na investigação do fenómeno dos sem-abrigo. Ao ganharem estatuto de quase-exclusividade na pesquisa sobre o fenómeno, constituem-se num regime de verdade e procedem a uma série de negações insustentáveis: negam que produzem as realidades que estudam, negam que outras realidades poderiam ser produzidas, deslegitimam posturas metodológicas alternativas, invisibilizam as relações de poder e dominação, obscurecendo a injustiça da vida na rua. Em alternativa a este regime de verdade, defendo a mobilização de uma política ontológica assumida e preocupada com o bem-estar e a dignidade dos atores sem-abrigo.
