Resumen de Sotomayor: el regionalismo estético y el regeneracionismo frente al nacionalismo

  El artículo reivindica la controvertida posición estética de Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor, denostada por un sector de la historiografía y de la crítica, debido a sus posiciones oficialistas, y sin embargo �tal como sostiene el autor� creador de uno de los lenguajes pictóricos más personales, en el primer tercio de siglo, en el contexto de la crisis del noventayochismo, de la consolidación de las vanguardias y de la poética regionalista, que se oponía al naciente nacionalismo, emergente en las periferias, particularmente el gallego. Con ello generó un lenguaje pictórico igualmente identitario, referenciado en los realismos o en el impresionismo tanto como en la libertad cálida y gestual de los expresionismos e informalismos más sutiles y moderados.

  The article vindicates Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor´s controversial aesthetic position, reviled by a sector of the historiography and the critique, due to his party-line position. Nevertheless, � as the author maintains � in the first third of the century, within the context of the Generation of �98 crisis, he is also the generator of the most personal pictorial languages of the consolidation of the avant-gardes and the regional poetry, that opposed to the rising nationalism which was emerging in the peripheries, particularly in the Galician region. Consequently, he founded a pictorial language, with an equal identity, referred in the realism or the impressionism, as well as in the warm and gestural freedom found in the expressionism and the subtlest and most moderate unformalism.
