Resumen de Una perspectiva sobre el binomia enseñanza-investigación en la universidad del s. XXI

Actualmente la universidad como institución se enfrenta a la pérdida de su lugar privilegiado como productora de conocimiento. La nueva concepción de universidad, que surge a raíz de este conflicto, plantea retos importantes sobre su misión y sobre las funciones principales que la han caracterizado tradicionalmente, enseñanza-investigación. El objetivo del estudio es mostrar las fuerzas que se ciernen sobre el equilibrio de estas dos funciones y especialmente reafirmar su vinculación como punto de mira para construir la universidad del siglo XXI. Esta premisa implica defender la sinergia entre enseñanza e investigación frente a los vaivenes que experimenta la sociedad y economía global, los cuales pueden destruir la esencia de su misión en aras de un único y exclusivo propósito utilitarista.

The university as an institution today has to fight the loss of its privileged position where knowledge is produced. The new concept of a university that emerges from this conflict creates important challenges for the mission of the university and the traditional principal functions of teaching-investigation. By looking at the forces that envelope the equilibrium of these two functions, the study reaffirms their link as the basis for the University of the Twenty-first Century. This premise implies defending the synergy between teaching and research in academia against the changes experienced by society and the global economy, which may destroy the essence of the university�s mission in favour of a single and exclusive �utilitarian� purpose.
