  La fiesta es una de las expresiones humanas que recoge toda la riqueza de las vivencias ancestrales, y a la vez es la proyección de los anhelos de quienes la celebran. Es una de las realidades que hay que vivirlas antes que describirla.

  Corpus Christi, fiesta destacada en la provincia de Cotopaxi, constituye una de las expresiones populares que ha trascendido en el tiempo y que guarda celosamente sus características folklóricas que la han convertido en el emblema de la cultura pujilense. Cada uno de sus personajes, entre los que destaca el "danzante", con sus diversos, imponentes y coloridos atuendos, muestra la riqueza del territorio, la fortaleza del hombre y la generosidad de sus mujeres.

  El objetivo principal de este trabajo es identificar la trascendencia, a lo largo de la historia ecuatoriana, de la celebración de la Fiesta de las Octavas de Corpus Christi. Esta investigación presenta información relacionada con la fiesta como:

  origen, características y personajes. Además, los resultados del estudio y análisis del conocimiento y opiniones de los asistentes a esta celebración religiosa-pagana en Pujilí, ciudad que ha mantenido esta tradición.

  The celebration is one of the human expressions that collects all the richness of the ancestral experiences, and at the same time is a projection of the wishes of the celebrators. . It is ine of the realities that must be lived than described.

  Corpus Christi, remarkable celebration in the province of Cotopaxi, constitutes one of the popular expressions that has transcended in the time and keeps jealously its folkloric characteristics that have made of this the emblem of Society in Pujili. Each one of its personages, among them remarks, the Dancer, with his diverse, imposing and colorful clothes, a proof of the richness of the land, men strength and women generosity.

  The principal objective of this work is to identify the transcendence, along Ecuadorian history, of the celebration of the Party of "Octavas de Corpus Christi" This investigation presents information related to the party; as: origin, characteristics and personages. Besides, the results of the studies and knowledge analysis and opinions of the attendants to this religious-pagans celebration in Pujili, city that has kept this tradition.
