La estación de ferrocarril de Jerez de la Frontera: un proyecto del ingeniero Francisco Castellón Ortega.

    El actual edificio de viajeros de la estación de ferrocarril de Jerez de la Frontera ha sido atribuido por numerosos autores a un proyecto del célebre arquitecto Aníbal González Álvarez-Ossorio, y su conclusión ha sido asociada a la fecha de inauguración de la Exposición Iberoamericana de 1929. Esta atribución se basa en la correspondencia entre el estilo arquitectónico de este edificio y el regionalismo historicista andaluz, que por estas fechas se desarrolló en la ciudad de Sevilla. Como resultado del estudio histórico de algunas de las estaciones ferroviarias de Andalucía se ha constatado que el edificio actual corresponde a un plano incluido en el anteproyecto para la construcción de una nueva estación en Jerez con motivo del ferrocarril de Jerez-Almargen. Este anteproyecto fue elaborado por el Ingeniero de Caminos D. Francisco Castellón Ortega en el año 1927, y junto con otras evidencias que se explican en este artículo, creemos constituyen una prueba de la autoría del proyecto de esta importante obra.

    The current passenger building of the railway station of Jerez de la Frontera has been attributed by many authors to a project of the famous architect Aníbal González Alvarez-Ossorio, and its completion has been associated with the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. This attribution is based on the correlation between the architectural style of this building and historicist regionalism in Andalusia, which was developed at this time in the city of Seville. As a result of the historical study of some of the railway stations in Andalusia, it was noted that the building corresponds to a blueprint for the construction of a new station in Jerez belonging to the rail line Jerez-Almargen. This draft was developed by the Civil Engineer D. Francisco Castellón Ortega in 1927, and together with other evidence discussed in this article, we believe this is proof of the authorship of this important work.
