  • This article studies the procedures of agudeza in Cuento de cuentos, a satirical burlesque work by Francisco de Quevedo. The text presents itself as a parody of the linguistic vulgarisms and idioms that became very popular from the mid-sixteenth century. The main resources are, as in most of the prose works of this writer, the ambiguity and the dilogy that make fun of these expressions through their literal meaning and, at the same time, show off the author's wit.
