    Este artículo se centra en el análisis de las promesas y votos en el Cantar de Mio Cid. Éstas no han recibido la atención que merecen, puesto que aparecen en el poema castellano desde el principio hasta el final. Aunque podrían ser analizadas como un mero fenómeno verbal, este artículo muestra cómo las promesas y votos muestran conceptos como el modelo del caballero perfecto y reflejan los intereses de la nueva nobleza, que estaba enfrentándose a la vieja. Las promesas y los votos, por tanto, deberían ser considerados en el Cantar como un medio para comprender algunas de las ideas principales que el texto contenía y trataba de extender entre su audiencia

    This article focuses on the analysis of promises and vows in the Cantar de Mio Cid. They have not been paid the attention they deserve, as they appear in the Castilian poem from the very beginning until the end. Even though they could be analysed as a merely verbal phenomenon, this article shows how promises and vows imply concepts such as the model of the perfect knight and reflect the interests of the new nobility, which was confronting the nobility of former times. Promises and vows, then, should be considered in the Cantar as a way of understanding some of the main ideas in the text and trying to desseminate these ideas through its audience
