  Estudios recientes realizados en Hybanthus Jacq. s.l. (Violaceae) de Sud-América revelaron la necesidad para seleccionar un neotipo para el nombre H. longistylus Schulze-Menz, debido a que el holotipo fue destruido en Berlin durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
