  • Resumen
    • A brief report on the 3rd season of excavations in the Magdaleniense site at Ekain. Levels have been detected from the Upper, Middle and Lower Magdaleniense. From the Upper Magdaleniense, in addition to industry (common to this period) a series of around fifty rock crystals were also found, gathered together in a small area in a corner of the cave. The Middle Magdaleniense is a very fine layer, in which a cut outline of a bird was found last season. In the Lower Magdaleniense the inhabitants’ means of subsistence changed, since instead of hunting mountain goats as they did during the Upper Magdaleniense, they hunted deer, mainly newborns and females. This indicates seasonal occupation of the cave, during the warmer part of the year.
