The paper is an attempt to understand the Santal society through bow and arrow. The study has been conducted during the last decade in some Santal concentrated rural forest fringe villages of Jharkand, Orissa and West Bengal states in Eastern India. The main objective of this empirical study is to explore the integrative values of bow and arrow on the Santal tribal society with regards to their culture and tradition through their ethographic account, typology and functional aspects of the bow and arrow and its cultural significance. The study shows that Santal society revolves around the axis of bow and arrow, reflecting every sphere of their age-old socio-eco-religious and politico-cultural life and tradition.
