Resumen de Seguimiento arqueológico realizado en los terrenos ocupados por el futuro edificio de la nueva sede institucional de Madinat al-Zahra

Ofrecemos aquí los resultados negativos obtenidos en una pequeña intervención arqueológica realizada en los terrenos ocupados por la nueva sede institucional de Madinat al-Zahra. Dicha intervención, consistente en labores de seguimiento arqueológico de las tareas iniciales de la excavación de los terrenos afectados por el proyecto constructivo, se ha realizado para confirmar los resultados, igualmente negativos, obtenidos tras una excavación realizada en los mismos con anterioridad, así como verificar la hipotética existencia de restos de infraestructura viaria de época califal en la zona afectada. Durante el seguimiento no se han detectado restos materiales que confirmen la hipótesis planteada inicialmente sobre una parte de la trama viaria que conectaba Madinat al-Zahra con la ciudad de Córdoba.

We present here the negative archaeological results from a short archaeological intervention carried out in the place in which the New Sede Institucional building for the Madinat al-Zahra archaeological site. The watching brief of the excavation of the first layers in the affected zone was made in order to confirm the same negative archaeological resulting from a previous archaeological excavation, and, at the same time, to verify the reality of the hypothetical existence of material remains of parts the road system created during the Caliphate to join Madinat al-Zahra and the city of Cordova. No archaeological remains in primary position have been found during the watching brief, so the hypothesis of the presence of the road system in that particular place can not be supported by material evidence any longer.
