Saint Augustine, bishop of Hipona wrote at the beginnings of the V century an apologetic work of the Catholic doctrine titled Adversarius Legis et Prophetarum. In said text, the bishop exposes and rebates a doctrine that he did not know, and does not hesitate in qualifying as "heretic". The present article offers to the religious filiation of the Adversario an approximation which after a careful analysis of the political and religious context of the III and IV century of our age, identifies this period as an early doctrinal stage of mandeism, a religious movement that has persisted through approximately 2000 years.
