El feminismo así como el mestizaje, son instrumentos de liberación ante una cultura dominante, ya que son elementos de revelación ante la opresión. En los siglos XVI y XVII hubo mujeres principales y cacicas que escribieron sus testamentos o dejaron testimonio de las enseñanzas para las mujeres de sus antiguos pueblos sin formular ninguna reivindicación a su condición presente. Cuando renació el feminismo emancipacionista de las anarquistas, liberales y socialistas de finales del siglo XIX fue que las mujeres de América Latina se percataron de su historia de discriminación y que esa condición no podía obviarse si se quería enfrentar una liberación femenina. No obstante, es en las décadas de 1970 y 1980 cuando las feministas latinoamericanas propulsaron su liberación de los roles asignados por la «cultura patriarcal», siendo éste un conflicto que desde entonces, ha impulsado la hegemonización de un feminismo de las instituciones y con ello la ratificación de la imposición de una americanidad femenina hegemónica.

Feminism and intermarriage are instruments of liberation from a dominant culture, as they are elements of disclosure to oppression. In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were leading and caciques women who wrote their wills or left a testimony of the teachings for women of their old nations without making any claim to its own condition. Only when emancipatory feminism of anarchists, liberals and socialists of the late nineteenth century was reborn, women in Latin America became aware of their history of discrimination and that this condition could not be ignored if they wanted to deal with a women?s liberation. However, it was just in the 1970s and 1980s when Latin American feminists propelled his release from the roles assigned by the «patriarchal culture», this being a conflict that has since driven the homogenization of feminism in the institutions and thereby ratification of the imposition of a hegemonic female Americanness.
