  • The two novels, which date from 1964 and 1965, are linked by characters in common, but also by a parallel esthetic of silences and echoes, or suspension and repetition, within each novel, and from novel to novel. The texts thus woven hang between madness and death, alluded to but never reached, webs of suspended ennui.
