Resumen de Voto de los ciudadanos del Distrito Federal residentes en el extranjero

La regulación del voto de los mexicanos residentes en el extranjero es producto de una demanda creciente que durante casi una década llevaron a cabo varias organizaciones de ciudadanos. No fue sino hasta 2006 en que se materializó el ejercicio de este derecho, para la elección de presidente de la República.
En congruencia con las reformas constitucionales y legales que hicieron posible el voto en el extranjero para presidente, a partir de 2012 será posible que los ciudadanos del Distrito Federal residentes fuera del país también puedan emitir su voto en la elección de jefe de gobierno, por lo que el Instituto Electoral local se ha abocado a realizar las acciones necesarias para materializar el ejercicio de este derecho.
Pero el voto en el extranjero no se agota en sí mismo, sino que de ahí derivan otros temas que ameritan, a la brevedad, atención legislativa.

Due to the crescent citizen�s demand around 10 years ago, Mexican law allowed the right to vote for those citizens that reside in another country or city. In 2006, for the first time abroad Mexicans citizens could vote for the President election.
Consistent with the constitutional and legal reforms that made the country voting for President, in the year 2012; the local law was reformed to give them the right to vote for the Head of Government. Therefore, the Mexico City Electoral Institute has been working and taking the necessary actions to realize the exercise of this right for the next year.
This is part of the first step in a global democracy The vote from abroad does not end in itself, there are other issues that need to be attended, and we are working on it.
