  • This article describes the history, organization and current activities of the specialised library of the Documentation and Research Centre of Gruppo Abele, located in Turin. This library has been open to the public since 1980 and offers a wide range of services. Since its beginnings, in 1975, the library has been sistematically collecting and cataloguing publications on social issues such as addictions, migrations, prison, prostitution, AIDS/HIV, social professions and policies. The on line library catalogue includes approximately 66.000 items made of books, articles selected from more than 350 Italian and foreign periodicals, miscellaneous documentation, reports, audiovisuals, degree theses. A special section of the library is dedicated to organized crime and the Mafia.
