    El cordero es uno de los símbolos cristológicos más habituales y frecuentes. En el arte paleocristiano, sobre todo mientras que la cruz se consideró un símbolo deshonroso, el cordero aparecerá fundamentalmente como símbolo del martirio y la muerte de Cristo, aunque en ocasiones representa también a los fieles cristianos que rodean la figura del Buen Pastor o se dirigen hacia el monte Sión.

    The lamb is one of the most common and frequent Christological symbols. In early Christian art, especially while the cross was considered to be a shameful symbol, the lamb appears mainly as a symbol of martyrdom and the death of Christ, but sometimes it also represents the faithful surrounding the figure of the Good Shepherd or moving towards Mount Zion.
