  • Measuring the acceptance of a databas is an exercise hardly ever done in Italy. An analysis of the Il Mulino Rivisteweb database penetration on the Italian market has been carried out with the help of an online survey.

    Libraries queried were members of the ESSPER group, a cooperative initiative that constitutes a representative sample of Italian social science libraries. Results show a mixed picture. Product penetration is relatively high, but non-buyers' negative perceptions and disappointing recent sales trend should be cause of some concern for the database producer. This opens up an opportunity for libraries to press the publisher for an upgrade/re-design of the platform and its functions by way of a more proactive approach as coustomers.
