    Este artículo estudia el cuerpo, la salud y la enfermedad de los esclavos del Nuevo Reino de Granada durante el siglo XVIII. En él se analizan las principales afecciones que adquirió este grupo poblacional a raíz de su trabajo en las minas, haciendas y en el servicio doméstico. El objetivo es mostrar que la salud y la enfermedad estuvieron ligadas a las condiciones socioculturales de los distintos espacios urbanos y rurales en los que habitaba la población esclava, como también por el manejo político que a ellas dio el imperio español.

    This article covers the topics of body, health, and illness in the slaves of the New Kingdom of Granada during the 18th century. It analyzes the main diseases which affected this part of the population as a result of their work in the mines, estates, and as domestic workers. The objective is to show that health and disease were linked to the social and cultural conditions of the urban and rural areas inhabited by slave population, as well as to the way the Spanish Empire handled them politically.
