La prescripción de un medicamento es un acto de responsabilidad que compromete no sólo al médico, sino a la Ad ministración, la industria farmacéutica y los pacientes.
En este artículo se propone un marco ético general, con los principios que se deben respetar para lograr una buena prescripción. Además, se incita a los médicos a relexionar sobre sus hábitos y actitudes en este tema, tomando como punto de partida los compromisos propuestos por el profesionalismo médico que se centran en la relación entre el médico y el resto de los agentes implicados en la prescripción.
The prescription of a drug is an act of responsibility that compromises not only the physician, but also the Adminis tration, the pharmaceutical industry and the patients.
In this paper, a general ethical framework is proposed, with the principles that must be respected to achieve a good prescription. Furthermore, physicians are encouraged to think about their habits and attitudes towards this subject, taking as starting point the commitments proposed by the medical professionalism that focus on the relation bet ween the physician and the rest of agents involved in the prescription.
