    Weaving lives together at Bawaka, North-East Arnhem Land is a book about basket weaving and culture. In this paper, some of the co-authors of the text, non-Indigenous academics and an Indigenous woman from northern Australia, reflect on the process of creating the book. We argue that jointly authoring a book about weaving lives has in fact interwoven all our lives in a manner which confronts many traditional academic accounts of research and fieldwork. Through the process of researching and writing the book we have experienced a sharing of knowledge and a sharing of family. In particular, we have learnt that relationships cannot be planned and that uncertainty can lead to creative transformations.

    L’ouvrage Weaving lives together at Bawaka, North-East Arnhem Land traite de la culture de la vannerie. Dans cet article, parmi les co-auteurs du texte, se trouvent des chercheurs allogènes et une femme indigène du Nord de l’Australie. Ils mènent une réflexion sur le processus de création du livre. L’idée que nous y développons est que la co-écriture d’un ouvrage parlant de l’entrelacement des vies a effectivement contribué à entrelacer nos propres vies d’une manière qui remet en question les compte-rendus traditionnels de la recherche et du travail de terrain. A travers les processus de recherche pour et d’écriture de l’ouvrage, nous avons fait l’expérience d’un partage non seulement de savoir mais aussi de famille. En particulier, nous avons appris que les relations ne peuvent être planifiées et que l’incertitude peut conduire à des transformations créatrices.
