The aim of this work is to present constitutional complexity as a theory able to describe the increasing constitutionalization of the EU and the 'efficient secret" of the European Constitution. The paper is organized as follows: first, I will specify what is meant by European Constitution, and then introduce the notion of constitutional complexity. The final section considers some important factors that should be taken into account when comparing constitutional cornplexity to other constitutional theories of European integration, namely constitutional pluralism and multilevel constitutionalism.
