"E1 Bordoño", heredero de una experiencia periodística en Villena que arranca desde fines del XIX, supo crear -sobre todo en su primera época (1906-1909)- un modelo para la prensa independiente local en un contexto de prensa normalmente dependiente. Si hubiera que resaltar una caraten'stica que lo definiera, es la de que fue heterogéneo, muy tolerante y respetuoso dentro siempre del progresismo liberal librepensador. Si bien, lo fue más por la variedad ideológica de sus hacedores que por un propósito premeditado.
Todo ello con la sana intención de regenerar una ciudad, de hacerla culta y digna hija del "Progreso", progreso que ellos anhelaban y deificaban.

"El Bordoño" inherited the experience of late 19th. century journalistic ventare in Villena.
Above all in its initial phase front 1906 to 1909, it managet to serve as a model for the local independent press at a time when the norm was for the press to function as an independent organ. If we were to dafine its dominant spirit. we would call it eclectic for the tolerance and résped it showed from the progressive, liberal, free-thinking principies it always espounsed. However, it must be said that this was due more to the various ideologies of its creators than to a conseious alm. This and the healthy objetive of regenerating the town and making an educated and worthy daughter of "progress", that progress which they both desined and worshipped.
