    Cartagena Nueva constituyó una de los pocos ejemplos de falangismo de posguerra, al situarse al margen de las directrices emanadas tras la Unificación. La experiencia se pudo mantener hasta octubre de 1939 al coincidir con las maniobras equilibradoras de Serrano Suñer sobre las zonas radicalizadas del primitivo falangismo. Pero todo era cuestión de tiempo. El día 2 un oficio de ¡a Dirección General de Prensa y Propaganda clausuraba el periódico.
